I’m sharing Mary Kate and Morgan’s stunning wedding at Graybarns on the Silvermine River and it’s a good one! When Mary Kate and Morgan hired me as their Connecticut wedding planner, I was instantly excited to create something that felt both playful and romantic. And of course I couldn’t wait to work at such an incredible wedding venue. Graybarns on the Silvermine River did not disappoint in bringing their vision to life and I can’t wait to share it with you today.
Before I share all the details about their color palette, unique details, and how they chose Graybarns on the Silvermine River to be their wedding venue, I want to quickly introduce myself in case you arrived here from a Google or Pinterest search! I’m Jenn, the lead wedding planner and designer here at Soirees and Revelry. I’ve been planning and designing weddings here in Connecticut for over 7 years now and I absolutely adore my work. You can learn more about working with me here, or jump straight to contacting me here (I would love to hear from you!).
Graybarns on the Silvermine River
If I’m being completely honest, this wasn’t Mary Kate and Morgan’s original wedding plans. You would never guess from the way it turned out though! After getting engaged in San Diego, they started planning a 250 person tented wedding at an area yacht club. However, as you probably guessed, 2021 had other plans. As COVID hit and then continued to be a threat, they started to entertain the idea of a smaller wedding at a more intimate venue. I’m so glad they did!
Mary Kate and Morgan fell in love with Graybarns after purchasing meals from them during quarantine and realizing how incredible their food was. After visiting the property for a tour, they fell even more in love with the warm yet modern decor within the inn, as well as the beautiful tavern and adjacent courtyard. It seemed like the perfect space to celebrate an intimate wedding weekend. After the year we have had, I believe that micro weddings are here to stay. There truly is an intimacy in celebrating with only your closest family and friends and I was so excited to be a part of their team.
Planning a Micro Wedding in Connecticut
If you are considering downsizing your wedding plans, I want to reassure you that changing the size of your guest list does not mean you need to miss out on any of the wedding day details and moments you might be looking forward to. For Mary Kate and Morgan, they still enjoyed the classic getting ready photos and wedding party portraits after the ceremony. They still enjoyed some of the details they had been planning for their original wedding, like the stunning paper invitations and wedding party robes. The bride herself wore a gorgeous Mira Zwillinger gown adorned with tiny petal appliques. If you keep scrolling, her gown also ended up being the inspiration for their cake. Personally, one of the more fun details for me were Mary Kate’s shoes – Christian Louboutin sneakers, complete with her new initials.
Graybarns Wedding Reception
Although I am so excited to share the Graybarns wedding reception design, I have to admit that Mary Kate and Morgan’s adorable puppy Cooper completely stole the show during cocktail hour! Does anyone else just love when people bring their fur baby to their wedding? Cooper was an absolutely dashing addition.
For their reception, we went with a bright and playful color palette, to balance out the white walls and dark wood in the Graybarns Tavern. The florals added cheery pops of coral, blush, pink, and green, with pops of light blue and a buttery yellow. When we started talking about their tablescapes, I suggested a patterned blue charger to bring some interest to the table setting. We also added some light blue goblets- a favorite of Mary Kate’s from their first wedding design when it was set at the yacht club. I loved that we were able to bring in some of their original plan in different places throughout the day to make it even more special.
Favorite Wedding Day Moments
I have too many favorite moments from each wedding day to possibly count. One moment from Mary Kate and Morgan’s wedding that stood out to me was how much fun it was! After dinner, their guests moved to the barn on the property for a little bit of an afterparty. That is where we had marquee lights in their new last name, which were the hit of the party, and probably the most Instagrammed moment of the evening.
Behind the scenes, I had searched high and low for those lights, after Mary Kate saw a photo of something similar on Instagram. So to be able to deliver them, and have them be such a key part of the evening, was so rewarding. Seeing Mary Kate and Morgan smiling and dancing surrounded by their friends and family was one of the moments that made me realize why I love my job so much. I get the opportunity to create and witness pure joy.
A Perfect Spring Wedding in Connecticut
